HELENA - The total number of new flu cases in Montana has declined for the first time in nearly three months but still remains high.
The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services reports that there were 685 new cases for the week ending Deb. 17 -- about 175 fewer cases than from the previous week.
However, the state did see another increase in flu-related deaths. Since the start of the season, 31 people have died from the flu in Montana -- all adults, with most being over the age of 65.
Flathead County and Lewis and Clark County continue to lead the state in both the new and total number of cases in each county.
