Posted: Updated:

RONAN - The Lake County Sheriff’s Office conducted an investigation after a Ronan Middle School student posted pictures on social media of themselves holding guns.

Ronan Police Chief Kenneth Weaver says in a news release that the department was notified of the incident Thursday night.

Weaver said the student only posted pictures and did not make any threatening comments that indicated intent to harm themselves, friends, families, students or to any Ronan Schools.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office contacted the student and secured the guns that were pictured in the social media posts.

Authorities also emphasized that was no active shooter at the school, and at no time was the community, the children, or teachers in any harm from the incident.

Officers with the Ronan Police Department were at the school on Thursday and worked alongside school administration, as well as the Lake County Sheriff’s Office school resource officers.

Chief Weaver said the department took a “proactive approach to ensure the safety of our community, our students, and the schools.” The student is currently receiving professional assistance.
