Shooting on Fort Peck Indian Reservation leads to arrest

Posted: Updated:

Sheridan County sheriff's deputies responded to a residence in Reserve on Saturday for reports of a shooting.

According to the Sheridan County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded around 6 p.m. with help from U.S. Border Patrol agents.

Deputies and dispatch were able to talk the suspect into surrendering peacefully.

The sheriff's office stated deputies arrested a man identified as Jonathan Black Jr.

The victim was transported to Sheridan Memorial Hospital. The victim's name and condition have not been released.

Because the suspect is a tribal member and the shooting occurred on the Fort Peck Indian Reservation, the FBI has taken over the investigation.
