Record swap helps Missoula's Roxy Theater

Posted: Updated:

MISSOULA - Deep cuts filled deep pockets at the senior center, as vinyl enthusiasts bought and bartered records, cassettes and CDs.

The Second Total Record Swap brought music enthusiasts out in force to support their local community cinema. Founded and organized by the Roxy, many vendors donated all proceeds to help with annual projects and service costs that arise throughout the year.

The Roxy’s Tech Director  Aaron "Rooster" Roos says that the swap is an opportunity for Missoula to come together and enjoy music while also supporting local business.

“I mean this is the epitome of Missoula, right? People coming together, talking about music, talking about movies, looking at old cassette tapes. Things that weren’t relevant for a while, it’s like hey, there’s still great movies, there’s still great music on these albums that you’ve had in your car forever, so why not? People are finding stuff they forgot they love, which is really cool. Just getting a chance to relive that is awesome," Roos said.

Vendors -- including local radio stations and private collectors -- donated items and money to the swap.
