Students rally gun right advocates in Kalispell

Posted: Updated:

Gun rights supporters gathered at Depot Park in Kalispell Saturday for a rally to stand up for their right to keep and bear firearms.

The event was one of dozens of “Rally for Our Rights,” planned across the country and led by students from local high schools.

Hundreds gathered to listen to speakers and gun rights advocates and to stand unified in support of responsible gun ownership. Folks carried signs that read “Disarming me will not protect me,” and waved yellow “Don’t Tread On Me” flags.

Some attendees had guns slung across their backs or strapped to their waists.

Columbia Falls High School sophomore Bridger Gould, who spoke at the event, feels the Second Amendment is under threat and it's an important issue to stand up for.

"Gun control will only affect the people who are willing to follow the law. Criminals who already don't follow the law will keep to their ways of not following laws and they will still find a way to get guns," said Gould. "Adding more laws will not stop shootings but it will increase the weapons trade through criminals."
