Man killed in southwest Montana avalanche identified

BOZEMAN - A Bozeman man has been identified as the victim of a fatal Saturday morning avalanche.

The Gallatin County Sheriff's Office says Anthony Saracelli, 39, of Bozeman, died in the snow slide that happened near the Bridger Bowl ski area.

Authorities were dispatched to the area of Saddle Peak after witnesses reported seeing an avalanche that had caught at least one person at around 11 a.m.

Search and Rescue volunteers at Bridger Bowl were supported by 25 rescuers, avalanche dogs, and a helicopter.

Identification of the victim will be released pending notification of next of kin.

The investigation is being conducted by the Sheriff/Coroner's Office assisted by the Gallatin National Forest Avalanche Center.
