Man accused of Missoula casino robbery due in court

MISSOULA - The man accused of robbing a Missoula casino on Friday evening and then firing shots as he was being chased by patrons is due in court on Monday afternoon.

Stephen James Antil, 56, is set to appear in Missoula Justice Court at 2:30 p.m. on Monday. He's facing a pair of felony counts in connection with the robbery which happened shortly after 8:30 p.m. on Friday at the Nickel Ante Casino on Sherwood Street.

Missoula Police report that Antil entered the casino, demanded money from the clerk and then fled the scene on foot. Authorities say when two witnesses pursued Antil he fired shots in their direction.

No one was injured and Antil was later taken into custody.

Antil is being charged with felony Attempted Deliberate Homicide and felony robbery.

MISSOULA - Police are investigating after a Missoula casino was robbed on Friday night.

Officers responded to reports of a robbery and shots fired at on at around 8:30 p.m. Friday at the Nickel Ante Casino.

Missoula Police Sgt. Mike Hebert says the suspect entered the casino and demanded money from the clerk.

Once the clerk gave the suspect the money he then fled the scene on foot. 

Authorities say when two witnesses pursued the suspect he fired shots in their direction.

No one was injured and the suspect was captured by police.

Police found him near the casino with a weapon and a large amount of cash in his possession.
