ID released for victim in Flathead Co. house fire

Posted: Updated:

KALISPELL - The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office has released the name of a man who died in a house fire that was discovered on Monday.

The deceased is identified as Mark Edwin McCorkle, 61 years of age, from Evergreen.

Flathead County Sheriff Chuck Curry says McCorkle died as a result of a fire in his residence on Mountain View Drive that had occurred in the days prior to the discovery of his body. The interior of the home had extensive fire and smoke damage, but the fire only burned the interior of the home.

Curry says that no signs of fire were visible on the exterior of the residence.

McCorkle was transported to the Montana State Crime Lab for autopsy, and those results are pending.

No foul play is suspected in the death.

The home was turned over to the Flathead County Fire Investigation Team for determination of the cause and manner of the fire.

Further information will be released when it becomes available.
