Small streams doing damage during Missoula flood season

Posted: Updated:

MISSOULA - While several of our main stem rivers have flood warnings or watches, many of our smaller creeks and streams are running at or slightly above bank full, too.

Portions of the trails that run next to Rattlesnake Creek through Greenough Park were shut down because a portion of the bank collapsed.

A Flood Advisory is in effect through Saturday morning for most of west central Montana. That's including areas from the southern Mission Valley to the northern Bitterroot and eastward to the Divide.

This is all due to the rainfall we’ve seen in the last couple of days which will continue into the overnight hours.

Some improvement is expected in the small stream flooding situation late Friday night, however.
