Polson man dies after fall at Mud Lake Falls

Posted: Updated:

POLSON - A Polson man died over the weekend after falling during a hike at Mud Lake Falls.

Lake County Sheriff Don Bell says Cameron Roullier, 18, was pronounced dead on the scene on Saturday afternoon.

Dispatchers received a call about 3:45 p.m. on Saturday that a member of a group that was hiking in the Mud Lake Falls area had slipped on wet rocks and slipped into the fast moving water and was swept over the cliff.

Sheriff Bell called out Search and Rescue and asked for Two Bear Air to assist in the search for Roullier. Two Bear Air found the victim about two-thirds the way down the cliff face, according to Sheriff Bell.

Lake County Search and Rescue rope team worked their way down to the victim and recovery was made with the aid of Two Bear Air. Roullier's body has been taken to the State Crime Lab in Missoula for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
