2 people killed in crash near Plains

Posted: Updated:

PLAINS - Two 35-year-olds are dead in a single-vehicle crash after colliding with a rock wall early Saturday near Plains.

The Montana Highway Patrol reports that at around 12:45 a.m. two people in a Jeep Grand Cherokee were driving westbound on Montana Highway 28 when the driver failed to negotiate a turn.

The driver then over-corrected and the vehicle collided with a rock cliff face and one passenger was ejected onto the roadway.

The driver was a woman from Kalispell, and the passenger was a male from Columbia Falls.

Both the passenger and the driver -- who were not wearing seatbelts -- were pronounced dead on the scene.

The Montana Highway Patrol reports alcohol, drugs, and speed are all considered factors in this crash.
