Man killed in motorcycle crash near Stevensville

STEVENSVILLE - A 55-year-old Stevensville man was killed in a motorcycle crash southeast of Stevensville on Saturday.

The Montana Highway Patrol reports the man was traveling southbound on the Eastside Highway at around 6:30 p.m. near mile marker 18 when he failed to negotiate a gentle curve and went off the right side of the highway and struck a fence post. 

The man -- whose name has not been released -- was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. The Patrol says alcohol and speed are suspected factors in this wreck.

STEVENSVILLE - The Montana Highway Patrol reports that a fatal accident happened on Saturday along the Eastside Highway in Ravalli County.

MHP responded to the accident on the Eastside Highway near Pine Hollow Road outside of Stevensville shortly before 6:30 p.m.

The road was closed for over two hours while crews worked the scene. At least one person died in the accident.

No other information about the accident is available at this time.
