The Montana Telecommunications Access Program (MTAP), located within the Department of Public Health and Human Services, provides assistive equipment and services to Montanans whose disabilities make it hard for them to use the phone. The equipment is provided at no cost to income eligible Montana residents who are hard of hearing, deaf, deaf/blind, mobility or speech impaired. They provide a variety of options, including amplified telephones, captioned telephones, TTY’s, loud bell ringers, artificial larynxes and much more!
To find out if you qualify, visit their website at www.montanarelay.mt.gov and complete the online application , or call them at 1-800-833-8503 to obtain an application. If you qualify, a technician will meet with you to assess your needs and recommend the best communication solution to fit your individual needs. They will then install it and train you on how to use it. It’s that simple!
