MISSOULA — The 48th annual Missoula YMCA Riverbank Run is going virtual in 2020 due to the coronavirus.

The Riverbank Run joins a list of Missoula favorite events that have been canceled or modified like the Garden City Brewfest and the Missoula Marathon.

Participants can run their race any time between now and Oct. 3 by following the traditional race routes or choosing one of the YMCA's suggested alternative routes.

“The Riverbank Run is all about coming together as a community and having fun,” said Keri McHugh, race director. “This year, we’re doing a throwback T-shirt contest to keep that spirit of community and fun.”

The YMCA is also a twist this year as they're encouraging runners to wear a throwback Riverbank Run T-shirt. Participants can snap a picture of themselves in the shirt during the race and post it to social media using the hashtags #RunForTheY and #YThrowback to enter a drawing.

Race registration fees start at $5. Registration and additional details are available at riverbankrun.org.
