MISSOULA – A  Missoula couple is facing child endangerment charges after police discovered evidence of abuse in their home.

Angela and Malcom Cobbler each face nine different criminal charges — including seven felonies — for what prosecutors describe as abuse against their adopted child.

Police responded to a report of child abuse on July 23. Prosecutors say law enforcement arrived at the couple’s Strand Avenue home and discovered an 11-year-old who was abnormally thin and had bruises all over her back.

Officers also discovered a lock on the child’s door, a bucket for a toilet in her room, a surveillance camera, and duct tape that was used as a restraint.

In their investigation, police say they learned that the child faced physical and mental abuse along with malnutrition.

The couple will next appear in court on April 5.
