FAIRVIEW – More than 50 homes have flooded between Fairview, Mont. and Cartwright, N.D. due to ice jams on the Yellowstone River.
Highway 200 is shut down and 110 people cannot stay in their homes according to North Dakota’s KX News.
Gov. Doug Burgum (R-ND) toured the area on Wednesday and attended a meeting at the Fairview Fire Hall.
One homeowner said his family has not experienced flooding in 70 years and now his land is under 4 to 5 feet of water.
Burgum declared a state of emergency in North Dakota late Wednesday afternoon.
