BUTTE – A new call center that could bring hundreds of jobs to Butte is making progress.

“They’re moving, they’re working on the inside of the building and looking to get people to join their team,” said Butte Local Development Corp. Director Joe Willauer.

The challenge for Butte Local Development Corp. is to help FCR find the large workforce it needs.

“FCR is looking for every position in Butte from contact people who will be taking in the calls and emails and that and reaching out and providing assistance, up to IT people making sure all the internet and computers are working, to site directors, HR, I mean, it’s a 350 person company.

The company is expected to draw from people from around the region.

“I think FCR will be pulling from our surrounding communities like Dillon, Twin Bridges, Anaconda, Deer Lodge,” said Willauer.

Economic leaders are hopeful that having all these new employees working out of the Butte Plaza Mall will also be a benefit to the mall, which has lost several stores in recent years.

“I think with that it will come to they need a place to eat, they’ll need a place to grab coffee and hopefully we’ll see some more shops pop up in the mall and see a little bit more life,” said Casandra Sunell of the BLDC.
