You may have heard of Freshman 15, the weight gain a lot of people experience in college. But now, there’s Quarantine 15, weight gain some people are experiencing during this pandemic.
MTN News talked to several nutritionists and dieticians, who say they’ve seen most adults gain between fifteen to twenty pounds and five pounds in children during the last few months.
And even if you don’t feel comfortable going to the gym, there’s still some things you can do that may help you during this time.
“The best thing is to have a schedule for when you’re going to eat. That’s probably one of the biggest issues that’s contributing to weight gain,” explained Dietician Laura Pinnick with Pediatric Nutrition solutions.
I really have my clients practice checking in with themselves. Are they really hungry? Is there something else going on? If they are hungry, that’s great having a snack,” said Dana Zurchin with Three Rivers Nutrition and Dietetics.
Professionals also suggest being aware of your mental health and identifying if that may be contributing to any weight gain.
