MISSOULA — Monday began the first of a stretch of nice days across all of western Montana. As we head into Tuesday and beyond, expect generally sunny, dry conditions with warming afternoon temperatures.
After a foggy start in a few valley locations in northwest Montana, we can expect a sunny day with afternoon highs reaching the upper 70s to middle 80s area-wide. Our expected afternoon highs will be close to the averages for mid-August.
Wednesday will bring more of the same. We’ll see sunshine from sunrise to sunset with lows in the upper 40s to lower 50s, and highs reaching the lower to middle 80s. Thursday will also feature mostly sunny conditions with highs reaching the lower to mid 80s.
The one big change to the forecast is a transition in the forecast models from a potentially wet and stormy scenario on Friday to a mostly dry one. We can’t rule out a few showers and thunderstorms, but the odds have decreased. Highs will be 3 to 5 degrees cooler, meaning middle 70s to lower 80s.
The weekend is expected to be sunny and dry with highs reaching the upper 70s to middle 80s. Sunday looks to be the warmer of the two days.
