‘Pokémon Masters’ is bringing back old trainers

New details for the upcoming mobile game “Pokémon Masters” have come out — and there’s an unusual twist.

Players will still have to catch ’em all, but this time, they’ll be collecting not just Pokémon but different kinds of trainers.

“Trainers have preferences of type, color and shape that influence how they choose their Pokémon,” says a video on the official Pokémon YouTube channel. “Each trainer wears clothing that matches their region’s climate.”

The goal of the game is to band together with trainers from past video games — remember Brock and his Onix? — to qualify for the Masters tournament.

Trainers and their companions will battle alongside each other in three-on-three fights in real time.

In addition to the traditional Pokémon moves, trainers will be able to use maneuvers and provide support to the Pokémon during battles.

The game is scheduled for release this summer on iOS and Android.
