Fargo, ND (WDAY) — After a pilot from Frazee, Minn., was forced to land a small plane in an Omaha residential neighborhood early Friday, many might have questions about safety regulations before takeoff.
The Federal Aviation Administration requires recreational pilots to have 30 hours of flight experience, and to pass a written exam, however, the agency doesn’t require a physical examination of the aircraft itself before a flight, according to former pilot and aviation expert Bob Miller.
Miller says a quick walk-through of the plane can ensure a safe flight.
“I’d like to stress — and it’s not original with me — you check everything on an airplane before you get in it and off of the ground,” he said.
