Free meals and more in Missoula on Thanksgiving

MISSOULA – There’s lots to do in Missoula over the Thanksgiving holiday.

Mountain Line and Beach Transportation will provide free shuttle service from the Downtown Transfer Center to the Goodfellows Free Community Dinner at Fuddruckers from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day. However, no other buses will operate. Normal bus service will resume on Friday.


The Carousel for Missoula will also be offering up free rides on Thursday from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.


Run Wild Missoula is expecting over 1,000 runners and walkers to take part in the annual Turkey Day 8K & 3K and Family Fun Run on Thanksgiving morning!

Race day registration is still available for folks who want to burn their calories off before Thanksgiving dinner. Folks can sign up at the University of Montana tailgate area from 8 a.m. until 9:15 a.m. on Thursday.

The 3K is a free for all participants, though participants do need to sign a waiver. Race day registration for the 8K is $30, for ages 15 and over, and $25 for ages 14 and under.

Additionally, for every pound of non-perishable food donated to the Missoula Food Bank as part of the run, Run Wild Missoula and Runner’s Edge will match that with a donation of $1 – up to $1,000. This donation will go to the Salvation Army to help support their facility as a Designated Warming Center this winter.

Please bring non-perishable food donations to the packet pick up at Run Wild Missoula Wednesday from 12 p.m. until 4 p.m. or at the race start at UM from 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. on Thanksgiving.


The Women’s Club in Missoula will open their big gym to the public for fun and fitness Thanksgiving morning.  Bring an item for donation to the Missoula Food Bank. The event is free and open to the public — including men — on Thursday. Enter through the gym double-doors on Bow Street.

The second annual Thanksgiving fundraiser at Wagg’n Indoor Dog Park will take place at 3 p.m. on Thursday. Come to Wagg’n and partake in a Thanksgiving fundraiser and potluck.  Wagg’n  will provide the turkey, mashed potatoes and dog fun.

Please bring your favorite holiday dish and donation and all proceeds will be given to the charity with the most votes. The indoor park is located at 7602 Desmet in Missoula.


It’s Planksgiving at the Missoula YMCA and the public is invited to take part.

Head over the the YMCA on South Russell Street on Thanksgiving Day from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. for a great selection of classes including BodyPump, BodyCombat, Barre, Oula, and Cycling.

The event is open to the public with a canned food item donation for the Missoula Food Bank
