KALISPELL – Operation Happiness started three years ago with a $2,000 grant from the Kalispell Education Foundation.

Anywhere between 50 and 100 Glacier High School students participate in the program every year.

French teacher Stephanie Hill says this program allows students to make a positive change through small monthly school events which range from therapy dogs, nice notes on lockers to hot chocolate bars.

“I think a lot of the times kids get a bad rep they’re always on their phones or they don’t care about people and our students don’t even do this for community service hours they’re doing it because they want to come to a place where they like to be. They want to be a part of something bigger than themselves,” Hill said.

Operation Happiness is currently on hiatus as high school students participate in AP testing.
