MISSOULA – Facebook is launching a new feature on their platform and one lucky local Missoula business is helping them celebrate.

Facebook users will now have a birthday story feature that will allow people to add digital birthday cards photos or videos to a friends story to celebrate their birthday.

To celebrate the occasion, Mary’s Mountain Cookies in Missoula was selected by Facebook to give out free cookies throughout the day on Friday.

Facebook selected one business in each state to help them celebrate and lucky for Missoulians they chose a business here in the Garden City.

Mary’s Mountain Cookies owner Kara McCracken says It’s not just big for them but also for other local businesses in the area.

“I think it’s going to be huge for our business and the community for sure.  Because I think that this is a community anyway that likes to support local businesses. And so we will have regulars come in today, but we will also have a bunch of new foot traffic,” McCracken said.

“And I think that will be great exposure for us but also for the surrounding businesses as well — and for us, that’s really important.  We want to support local businesses and I think this is a great opportunity for us to help others as well,” she added.

Mary’s made 700 cookies for the event as well as the 300 that they bake on a daily basis.
