WHITEFISH — Hank’s Hatchets, an indoor Axe throwing range, officially opens its doors on Friday.

The first of its kind in Whitefish, the facility features 12 throwing lanes with up to four axe throwers per lane.

Manager Mike Hamilton says the range welcomes throwers of any skill level, "[with a] five-to-seven minute tutorial...you can start throwing."

Open seven days a week, Hamilton says throwing lanes can be reserved online and the range will also offer two public lanes for walk in visitors.

Hamilton says they are expecting a big crowd opening weekend.

“I can’t wait, we’re booked out Friday, we’re booked out Saturday and we have two dedicated walk in lanes which I think we’re going to get a lot of Friday and Saturday of next week."

Being the first axe throwing range in the Flathead Valley, Hamilton says expansion into other parts of Montana is possible down the road.

“We’re hoping to expand in the next year to points in Montana and maybe some in Idaho. We’re really excited we’re hoping that it blows up," said Hamilton.

Hamilton says lanes cost $15 an hour per person and throwers must be 16 years of age or older.

Hank's Hatchets, which can be found at 6078 US Highway 93, opens at noon Monday-Saturday and at 1 p.m. on Sundays.

Customers are allowed to bring in their own beer or wine Monday through Saturday.
