Kelly Ripa celebrated her 49th birthday on Oct. 2, and her husband Mark Consuelos took to Instagram to bring her followers on a journey down memory lane. The two lovebirds have been married for 23 years and they have three children together, so they’ve been through plenty of life’s ups and downs together.

Consuelos shared a number of snaps of the TV host from throughout her life, including some adorable childhood pictures.

“Happy Birthday to my Fave..I’m really glad you were born..Because let’s face it, if you weren’t, I would’ve been married 3 or 4 times by now,” he joked in the caption. “Which would have been really expensive, not to mention the super tense parent-teacher conferences and all the awkward blended family holiday/vacations. Anyway, happy birthday sweetie.”

How cute is little Ripa blowing out the candles on her birthday cake?

She also really knows how to rock pigtails!

Consuelos also surprised his wife by showing up to the set of “Live with Kelly and Ryan” bearing a birthday cake shaped like a loaf of bread.

Watch them slice into it in this clip posted to the show’s Instagram:

When Adam Lambert led the entire studio audience in a rendition of “Happy Birthday,” Ripa was overcome with emotion.

“I don’t even know where to go from there,” she said. “That’s a bucket list moment that I never even knew was a possibility. Thank you for that.”

Co-host Ryan Seacrest also got in on the fun by surprising Ripa with her dressing room filled with balloons. Watch her excited reaction in the Instagram clip below:
