FLORENCE – Most of the fields are dried off and ready for the softball season in Western Montana.

However the defending state champ Florence Falcons are still waiting to get out on their brand new diamond. As soon as they do, the wins will probably follow, as usual.

The Falcons are looking to make another run in 2019 and with six seniors leading a team with championship experience, it’s a pretty safe bet they’ll be in the running.

The Falcons know it’ll be hard to repeat but they’re confident in themselves.

“I think it’s always really hard to defend the state championship. I mean you know you get everyone’s best and you know,” said head coach Rob Ralls.

“So, I mean there is some added pressure but I really feel confident in this group of girls that the pressure won’t eat them up like it has in the past,” he added

“I mean it’s definitely a lot of pressure because we know we have a target on our back’s. It kind of feels like a lot to live up to but we just have to stick to the fundamentals and do what we know how to do,” said senior Natalie Dulac.

“And so just keeping that in mind I think it’s just holding each other accountable like we’ve done every year and just not really changing much just game by game and see what happens,” fellow senior Shannon Byrne added.

The Falcons start their title defense with a doubleheader at Troy on Thursday.
