GREAT FALLS – On Sunday’s "Face the State," MTN News examined the epidemic of missing and murdered indigenous women in Montana.

This month marks one year since Ashley Loring HeavyRunner was last seen on the Blackfeet Indian Reservation. June also marks almost one and half years since Matthew Grant was reported missing and later found dead in Browning.

"We need to increase funding. We need to help the disconnect that is happening between the federal government and tribal government and the state of Montana," said Tara Walker Lyons, a child abuse prevention advocate. "We need to connect these loopholes. We need to bring everyone to the table otherwise this will continue."
