MISSOULA – Additional Montana fire crews are helping out in any way they can with the devastating California wildfires.
One of those crews is a Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes Division of Fire Type 2 initial attack team. Some 23 firefighters left Monday to battle the deadly fires.
Fire Prevention Specialist CT Camel says the CSKT Team is in good hands and always makes safety a top priority.
Camel added the initial attack team is a national resource and was put on a list to be deployed when needed.
The crew will be working for 14 days and could be extended to 21 if needed which means they could be spending the Thanksgiving holiday out west.
Officials say 631 people are unaccounted for in Paradise, California where a wildfire devastated the entire community.

Searchers recovered eight more victims of the Camp Fire yesterday, bringing the death toll to 63. It’s also destroyed nearly 9,000 homes and forced at least 52,000 people to evacuate.
