UPDATE:

One man is dead after taking his own life during a short incident with police in a Kalispell park Friday afternoon.

Multiple agencies responded to Woodland Park for reports of an armed man who barricaded himself inside a vehicle.

Officers attempted negotiations with him, when Kalispell Police Patrol Captain Brett Corbett says a single shot was fired and a Special Reaction Team, or S.R.T., was brought in.

They found the man dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

S.R.T. arrived on scene and was able to approach the vehicle, remove him from the vehicle. And began immediate lifesaving attempts on him. But ultimately, he did pass away,” Corbett said.

The man involved has not been identified, as officers continue to investigate.
