In accordance with Governor Steve Bullock’s phased reopening plan for Montana, swimming pools were allowed to reopen beginning June 1st - the first day of phase 2. However, the Belt Community Swimming Pool took an additional week to ensure safe swimming conditions at their pool this summer.

Belt Pool Corporation president April Hansen said the staff has always followed strict sanitation measures for the safety of their swimmers, but will also take official health recommendations into account this summer.

“All of the toilets and all of the benches and locker rooms are hosed down every closing with a disinfectant and then hosed down after that... but we are also stepping up our game and following whatever the state regulations are,'' Hansen said.

In addition to nightly pool cleanings and disinfecting of the grounds, Hansen said the Belt Pool Corporation will make sure staff members abide by state regulations like social distancing while at - or in- the pool. “We’ll separate families...there is plenty of seating and chairs too,” Hansen said.

Pool-goers can return to the Belt Community Swimming Pool starting Monday, June 8th. The pool will remain open for the summer from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. daily.

The Belt Community Swimming pool is located within the George Ryffel Sports Complex in Belt, Montana. This 25-year-old swimming pool is privately funded through donations and fundraisers.
