BUTTE - Social distancing did not stop a group of Butte people from celebrating the birthday of a special woman who turned 95 years old Wednesday.

The friends and loved ones of Dorothy Honeychurch held a birthday parade by honking their horns as they drove by her Butte home off of Cobban Street Wednesday evening. The parade was a complete surprise to Honeychurch, who is very active in the Butte community and beloved by those who know her.

“She's been like a mother to me for almost 40 years, and - a bunch of us - and we're celebrating, she's an amazing woman that does all this volunteer work and she still does at 95,” said parade organizer Kristi O’Leary.

Honeychurch said this was an amazing birthday for her and she feels loved.
