HARDIN — Big Horn County reported its 50th COVID-19-related death Monday.
The decedent was a man in his 70s who was hospitalized before he died.
It's the second COVID-related death in December, just a week into the month.
The county's fatality rate is 2.5%, with 50 deaths out of 1,989 cases.
As of Monday, Big Horn County had a rate of 375 deaths per 100,000 population.
In comparison, Yellowstone County -- which has the most deaths in Montana -- had a rate five times lower of 76 deaths per 100,000 population.
