77 year old Lincoln County resident Jim Tomlin has been reported as the first COVID-19 death in Montana.
Tomlin's family tells MTN News that he was the first of three cases, involving two men and one woman, in the county. Their ages range from their 50s to 70s.
Governor Steve Bullock announced the first death in Montana from COVID-19 on Thursday evening just hours after issuing a stay-at-home order that will go into effect on Saturday at 12:01 a.m.
The order is meant to limit the spread of the virus as 108 confirmed cases have been reported in Montana as of 2:30 p.m. Friday.

There have now been seven hospitalizations of COVID-19 patients in Montana, according to the state Coronavirus Task Force, while 2,680 tests have been completed.
