Missoula Co. confirms 37th COVID-19 related death, 41 new cases reported

MISSOULA — A 37th COVID-19 related death has been confirmed in Missoula County.

The news comes as the number of newly reported cases dropped to 41 on Tuesday morning.

The Missoula City-County Health Department (MCCHD) reported on Monday an additional 255 cases had been confirmed since Friday's update.

The number of active hospitalizations in Missoula County has dropped by two since Monday and now stands at 34 -- including 14 county residents.

None of Tuesday's newly confirmed cases are associated with the University of Montana.

Overall, there are currently 1,044 active cases reported, down from the 1,076 reported Monday.

Additionally, MCCHD reports that the number of recoveries has risen from 2,492 to 2,560.

There have been a total of 3,641 confirmed coronavirus cases in the county including 37 COVID-19 related deaths.

The average of daily new cases per 100,00 in the past seven days has now fallen from 78 to 70.

The MCCHD goal is to bring that number down to 25 or fewer.

The Missoula City-County Board of Health will review the current COVID-19 restrictions during a Thursday meeting. MCCHD notes that the Board of Health may adopt that current order or add revisions.

The community is encouraged to give feedback on the feedback portal on missoulainfo.com before Tuesday, Nov. 17 at 5 p.m.

The current COVID-19 restrictions for Missoula County began at 8 a.m. on Oct. 29.

MCCHD issued a revised Public Health Order in regards to face masks as well as new restrictions on senior facilities on Oct. 15.

Missoula County residents can call 406-258-INFO weekdays between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. to discuss COVID-19 information.

MCCHD is urging people to continue practicing health and safety behaviors:

  • Wash your hands thoroughly and frequently.
  • Keep at least 6 feet of safe space between you and others as the environment permits.
  • Wear a face covering that's fully sealed around your nose and mouth.
  • Remember that physical spacing does not replace face coverings - these are tools to be used together for maximum efficacy and safety.
