Missoula County reports 71 new COVID-19 cases; 61st death

MISSOULA — The Missoula City-County Health Department (MCCHD) is reporting 71 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases since the Thursday update.

Ad additional COVID-19 related death has also been confirmed. No further information is being released.

The number of active COVID-19 cases has risen from 308 on Thursday to 313.

A total of 7,442 COVID-19 cases has been confirmed in Missoula County including 7,068 recoveries and 61 COVID-19 related deaths.

There are currently 18 COVID-19 hospitalizations being reported including nine county residents.

The average of daily new cases per 100,000 has risen from 37 on Thursday to 41.

The MCCHD goal is to bring that number down to 25/100,000 people for two consecutive weeks or more.

The Board of Health announced on Thursday that there will be an easing of several of the COVID-19 restrictions in place for Missoula County.

Missoula County Public Schools released details for moving into the second phase of its reopening plan on Jan. 18.

Missoula County health officials announced on Jan. 14 that plans are in place to move to Phase 1B of COVID-19 vaccinations.
