POLSON — The latest numbers from Lake County Public Health show that the number of COVID-19 cases has crossed the 1,000 mark in the Mission Valley.

A total of 60 new cases have been recorded since Friday's update, bringing the number of coronavirus cases to date to 1,008.

There are currently 245 active cases along with 755 recoveries, according to the Monday Lake County Public Health update.

The number of current hospitalizations remains at 16 and a total of eight COVID-19 related deaths have been reported in Lake County.

Lake County Public Health also announced on Friday that additional staff has been hired in an effort to cope with the rising number of local COVID-19 cases.

Health officials note that it is crucial for those that have been identified as a case or a contact to a case to do the following:

  1. If you are positive for COVID-19, isolate at home. Notify everyone you were in contact with for 48 hours prior to the onset of symptoms or 48 hours prior to test date.
  2. If you have been told that you are a contact, quarantine at home for 2 weeks from the time you were exposed. Lake County or CSKT Tribal Health contact tracers WILL be contacting you, it just may take a few days.
