TROUT CREEK – Authorities are looking for a man who fled from police after firing shots at a Trout Creek motel.

Sanders County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to reports of a man pointing a firearm at another individual just before 6 p.m. on Wednesday at the Lakeside Motel while also attempting to start a fire at the motel.

Authorities say that while speaking with witnesses on scene, the same person returned to the area and fired additional shots into a nearby building before fleeing in a motor vehicle.

Deputies on the scene returned to their patrol vehicles and a pursuit began but due to the headstart of the suspect had on police they lost sight of him.

Law enforcement officers from surrounding agencies responded and assisted in trying to locate the male, amid conflicting information.

After several hours, the male was not found. Facts and evidence gathered at the scene indicate the male was acting alone and did not enter any of the buildings at the establishment.

The identity of the male has been established, and arrest warrants are being sought at this time. There were no injuries reported as a result of the incident.

We’ll have more information as it becomes available.
