MISSOULA – Missoula Police have identified the man charged with leading police on a Monday night high-speed chase going the wrong direction on Interstate 90.

29-year-old Kevin Oquist is currently in Missoula County Detention facility and facing multiple felony charges.

Around 9 p.m. Monday, police received a report of a vehicle taking off after hitting the Pagoda Chinese Foods building. An officer found the vehicle near Pine Street and tried to pull the driver over.

Police say Oquist instead drove off, leading police on a chase from Pine St. to Higgins Ave. and over to the Van Buren Street exit.

He then drove up the eastbound exit going the wrong way on Interstate 90 towards the Orange Street exit.

Oquist exited going the wrong way off the Orange Street exit, and attempted to get back on I-90 in the wrong direction again. But before he made it, his car went off the road. He attempted to flee on foot before being caught.

He’s now facing multiple charges including criminal endangerment for almost hitting oncoming interstate traffic.
