HELENA – Kelly Frank, the man accused of a 2005 plot to kidnap David Letterman’s son, was arrested in Helena on Wednesday.

Frank has been cited for misdemeanor assault and ordered to appear in Helena Municipal Court.

According to the citation issued by the Helena Police Department, Frank is accused of following an individual to his vehicle and threatening to kill him on March 23.

He is currently on parole and has previous convictions for theft, possession of an unlawfully taken game in 2005, and a conviction for a 2007 escape.

In 2005, Frank worked as a painter at Letterman’s 2,700-acre ranch in central Montana when he was charged with plotting to kidnap the talk show host’s then 16-month-old son and nanny for a $5 million ransom.

Frank was released on parole last year.

This is a developing story.
