Woman arrested after taking grandchild from Libby without permission

LIBBY — A woman is facing charges after being accused of taking her grandson without permission.

Caleb Krizan, 12, and his grandmother, Rebecca Olney, 54, were reported missing early on Friday, April 17 and disappeared without contacting Caleb’s mother the night before, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.

The Sheriff’s Office and the Libby Police Department and began a missing person investigation for both individuals and a Missing Endangered Person Advisory was issued on Saturday.

“On Saturday, a credible sighting of Caleb and Rebecca came in that both were in Thompson Falls for most of Friday morning and were last seen at approximately 3:15pm,” a news release states.

At around 5:30 p.m. on Saturday Missoula Police found Caleb and Olney at a hotel as they were checking in. Caleb and his parents were later reunited in Missoula.

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office continued to investigate the disappearance, and arrested Olney on a Custodial interference charge, according to a news release. Her bond was set at $25,000.
