MISSOULA — UPDATE: Dec. 9 2020 - 6:10 p.m.
A man who had been on the run following a Tuesday afternoon fatal shooting in Missoula.
Missoula Police officers arrested Christopher Newrider at approximately 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday in connection with the fatal shooting of Sundance Ron Leon Hernandez of Missoula.
Investigators report Newrider was found at Creekside Apartments and took him into custody without further incident.
Police say the murder weapon was found earlier on Wednesday where Newrider was last seen near the river during a search by the Missoula County Sheriff’s Office K9 Team.
The investigation is still on-going, but MPD says they are not looking for any other suspects and there is no longer a public threat.
“I cannot express enough our appreciation for all of our law enforcement partners and private citizens who aided in the effort to bring this search to a successful conclusion”, said Missoula Police Chief Jaeson White.
”We, as a community, will continue to work together to keep our citizens safe," the statement continued.
Newrider is now being held in the Missoula County Detention Center with a $1,000,000 bond.

The manhunt a for 33-year-old homicide suspect from the Missoula area is continuing.
Area law enforcement is currently searching for Christopher Newrider of Missoula.
Officials have also identified the victim in the shooting as 33-year-old Sundance Ron Leon Hernandez of Missoula.
Law enforcement received reports of gunshots in the area of the Creekside Apartments Tuesday and arrived to find Hernandez dead in the parking lot.
The suspect -- later identified as Newrider -- had fled the scene along the river.
Police are still investigating what caused the fatal shooting and anyone with any information should contact the Missoula Police Department.
MPD also asks if you have any information about the whereabouts of Newrider to contact them immediately and do not approach him by any means.
Newrider is considered armed and dangerous and due to cold weather might be seeking shelter.
Officials describe him as a is a 6-foot-tall white man who weighs about 200 pounds. He has brown hair with green eyes.
Newrider was last seen wearing a black beanie-style cap, black hoodie, and black shoes.
