A pedestrian who died after being struck in downtown Kalispell by a vehicle last week has been identified.

William Winters, 89, of Kalispell died after being hit by a van while trying to cross First Avenue West.

Winters was struck by a minivan while in the crosswalk near the intersection of First Avenue West and First Street West at around 8:15 p.m. Thursday.

Kalispell Detective Captain Doug Overman says the driver of the van left the scene and later reported the accident.

Capt. Overman told MTN News that he was questioned released and as of Tuesday no charges have been in connection with the incident.

The investigation is ongoing and Capt. Overman asks that anyone with information about the incident to contact authorities.

“Any part of an investigation is eyewitnesses. If someone was downtown and saw that crash we would be very interested in talking to them and hearing what the saw and what input they can give our investigation,” said Overman.
