KALISPELL – Flathead County Commissioner Randy Brodehl tells MTN that eight accidents have occurred on Rose Crossing so far this year.

The culprit is the dangerous square corner near Pine Grove Pond mixed with speed and winter weather.

However, with future construction to Reserve Road and a new Ford dealership, more traffic is expected on Rose Crossing. Now the county is taking extra precautions to prevent more accidents.

So far this year, the county installed chevron signs and concrete barriers to prevent cars from running off the road.

Dave Prunty with the county tells MTN what the next steps are to keep people safe.

“What’s coming this year is the county road department is going to be installing a radar-detect-blinking corner sign. So, when a car east bound coming into the corner the sign will see them coming and will start to flash with LED lights around the perimeter of the sign,” Prunty said.

The new LED sign could be installed within three weeks. County commissioners hope these new safety measures decrease the number of accidents in the area.
