Flathead National Forest crews warn that you may be able to see some smoke on Tally Mountain, but don’t be concerned, as it’s only a prescribed burn.
They have been working on the Logan Creek Restoration Project near the east-facing slopes of Tally Mountain west of Tally Lake Campground.
They are clearing about 290-acres across the slope and near Trails 800 and 801.
The fire is aimed at improving forest conditions and future management of wildfires by reducing stand densities and fuel loading.
In addition, they say it will help improve wildlife habitat and provide other ecological benefits.
