COLUMBIA FALLS – After years of anticipation, new “Welcome” signs have installed in downtown Columbia Falls.

O’Brien Byrd with the Columbia Falls Community Foundation tells MTN the original Columbia Falls sign was knocked down by a logging truck in 1982 and was never replaced.

The new signs were funded entirely by local private businesses and they frame the entrance of downtown Columbia Falls. One sign has “Gateway to Glacier” while the other one has the phrase, “Adventure Lives Here.”

Byrd tells MTN the signs came in under the fifty $50,000 budget and were both completed in a record two weeks. He says the city hopes these signs will draw visitors to downtown businesses.
