First farm in Montana awarded top NON-GMO certifications for grass fed beef

Montana farming business A Mindful Kitchen, located in Sweet Grass, recently received three top certifications for their grass-fed beef cattle, according to a press release from A Greener World.

A Greener World (AGW) identifies, audits, certifies and promotes practical, sustainable farming systems by supporting farmers and ranchers and informing consumers.

AGW is a nonprofit organization that strives to offer a range of resources to help people make informed food choices.

They have awarded A Mindful Kitchen with three certifications: Certified Animal Welfare Approved by AGW, Certified Grass-fed by AGW and Certified Non-GMO by AGW.

"When cows roam freely and are allowed to eat their natural diet of grasses, they are healthier, happier and the nutrient content of their beef is far superior," said Heather Thompson of A Mindful Kitchen.

"We wanted to work with AGW to verify and promote these farming practices through their certification programs, rather than just making the claims without a third party to back it up," Thompson added.

"In a marketplace crowded with misinformation and greenwashing, sustainable producers and informed consumers are hungry for transparency," said AGW Director of Communications and Outreach Emily Moose.

Beef from A Mindful Kitchen is available directly from the farm, online or by contacting the farm to arrange orders.

They recently opened a kiosk at the Rimrock Mall and will be available from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays, and 12 to 6 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.
