KALISPELL — The Kalispell City Council declared a state of emergency Monday night in response to the coronavirus outbreak.

The declaration allows the city to seek additional funding for coronavirus expenses.

Kalispell City Manager Doug Russell told MTN News the declaration allows the city to plan ahead for disaster situations. The declaration also allows the city to change or cancel public meetings.

Russell said city residents won’t notice anything different in day-to-day activities. Russell said the city will work closely with public health officials to make proper decisions.

He says the city has no intent to enact a city-wide curfew.
