Olney fire and ambulance struggles with volunteer shortage

OLNEY — With only five volunteers on staff, Olney Fire and Ambulance had to stop all ambulance services.

Chief Jordon Carr tells MTN that it's been a year since the fire house has had an ambulance service.

The nearest ambulance to Olney is Whitefish, which is at least thirty minutes away.

Olney Fire and Rescue responds up to the Lincoln County Line, Chief Carr says only having five volunteers is difficult.

Right now, Chief Carr explains to MTN that Olney Fire and Rescue do their best on calls with the numbers they have.

"It gets a little rough when you show up to something and Whitefish is a little far out, and we can't do anything but we do what we can," said Chief Carr.

Chief Carr says that ideally the department would have twenty volunteers.

If you're interested in volunteering please give Olney Fire a call at (406) 407-2996.
