KALISPELL — Kalispell city officials say over 100 domestic geese and ducks at Woodland Park will be finding new homes.

Kalispell Parks and Recreation director Chad Fincher told MTN News now that all domestic birds have been adopted, the city is looking to finding an answer for the migratory birds who are still at the park.

He says those birds have lost their ability to migrate, a development he attributes to the birds being fed unhealthy food by the public like bread.

He says the city will work closely with Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks to develop a plan for the birds that remain.

"Mitigate over population in the park in the future is we'll start a conversation with Fish, Wildlife and Parks and with city council in regards to feeding water foul at the park," said Fincher.

Fincher added that he will continue to work with Kalispell City Council as well as hold open forums for the public's input.
